This is the picture from the NYT site taken by Jerome Maison. I'm putting it up because I'm guessing that nobody cares enough about my minimally trafficked site to be concerned about copyright issues. But does anyone know what the laws are on this kind of thing? Is it just flat out not permitted to take images or is there some kind of fair use allowed?

I have no idea what the laws are, but I suspect that if you always give attribution for where you got it and a link back to the original page no one will much care. That's generally what I do, and other blogs seem to feature copywritten material. So...
From what I've read, people get much angrier if you link to the picture on their webpage (stealing bandwidth) rather than downloading a copy to your own account.
