SkyMaul: The Catalog Parody by Kasper Hauser

So funny. So not yet ready for my flight tomorrow. Although I am intrigued by the idea of trying to bring frozen mashed potatoes onto the plane tomorrow...

The Blog | Paul Hipp: METH AND MAN ASS | The Huffington Post

The Blog | Paul Hipp: METH AND MAN ASS | The Huffington Post: "DELIVER ME FROM EVIL AND DELIVER ME FROM GREED, DELIVER ME A HOT STUD AND A COUPLE GRAMS OF SPEED"

This has got to be one of the funniest songs I've ever heard in my life. It's catchy too... Um, the music starts up once you link through, so it's not exactly appropriate for the office w/o headphones. Thanks Ted Haggard!

"I'm guilty of sexual immorality," Haggard tells his flock | Salon News

"I'm guilty of sexual immorality," Haggard tells his flock | Salon News: "Many spoken prayers were for Haggard as well, but most swerved away from his soul quite quickly into prayers for personal purity, the salvation of the 'homosexual community' and the 'vanquishing of Satan.' The people gathered in their jeans and T-shirts, each clutching a worn Bible, didn't seem to blame Haggard for his indiscretions. They blamed Satan. And they blamed themselves."

Salon has an interesting piece on New Life Church's member reactions to the Haggard scandal. Yes, it's fluffy, but still, I think it's got some real points and highlights some themes that are important. It also mentions the homoerotic paintings of Thomas Blackshear which reminded me of a Harper's article. Harper's apparently has since posted their article on New Life Church online. Read it -- it was good!

The Difference Two Years Made - New York Times

The Difference Two Years Made - New York Times: "The fact that the White House, House and Senate are all controlled by one party is not a threat to the balance of powers, as long as everyone understands the roles assigned to each by the Constitution. But over the past two years, the White House has made it clear that it claims sweeping powers that go well beyond any acceptable limits. Rather than doing their duty to curb these excesses, the Congressional Republicans have dedicated themselves to removing restraints on the president’s ability to do whatever he wants."

Hear hear. This is pretty harsh from the New York Times. It's interesting that they felt the need to establish their moderate credentials at the beginning of the piece.

On an unrelated note, can I help but feel shadenfreude re: Reverend Haggard. Heh heh. Here's the link to the AP article on NYT.
