in Geneva

It's Friday night, and I'm ready to tear out of the office, but I just wanted to blog a quick note that I'm in Geneva, it's a pleasant city, work is very good. In short, life is nice.

I've only got internet at work, although I may try to locate one of the 2 cafe/bars with free wireless in Geneva this weekend. Otherwise I may have to prepare posts in advance and then upload them at work when I arrive at work in the mornings.

Off to the Bains de Paquis to enjoy the sun and hang out with some of the interns from my office. More blogging to come I hope...

I am Salon's target demographic, no doubt about it. Okay, back to my paper on Asbury Park and New Paltz...

I know I've blogged Get Your War On before, but basically it's the funniest thing on the planet when you're feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world. With lines like, "Hell, invisible mayonnaise makes more sense than fueling an arms race between India and Pakistan" one can't help but make snortle sounds in the library.

Here's the link to the tradgedy by the way.

A gorgeous field of yellow in Princeton Township...

pavement

It's one of those days where I absolutely must get OUT of the apartment and get my work done, and instead, I'm leisurely listening to Pavement while getting depressed reading Cynthia's blog about her AAA mechanic being harassed by this racist guy in Southern CA. Incidentally, there's something odd about reading the blog of someone I've not been in contact with for 6 years. It's an interesting sort of window.

If you're someone who's been out of my life for years and have been reading my blog, let me know -- I'm curious.

Salon.com | Afraid to tell the truth

Salon.com | Afraid to tell the truth

Why is that there is so much that is so incredibly wrong? Why is this not front page news here at home in the U.S.? Why does everything that is framed as conspiracy theory just turn flat out true?

Madness.

Preliminary results of a study from the Harvard-affiliated McLean Hospital finds that Taiwanese men are not as dissatisfied with their bodies as Western men. Sean Cole explores the permutations of body image perception among men.

"Filibuster Frist" @ Princeton University

It's fun to see some visible political activity on campus! This has been getting quite a bit of coverage in the press it seems. Maintaining a nonstop filibuster during finals time, no less.

I'm definitely impressed by the live webcam as well...

Our Psychology class met with Representative Rush Holt who discussed some of the same underlying points in the article, including the one that when policies get converted from being an agreement or compact between all members of a society to a program just for the poor, the programs end up being destroyed soon after.
