Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants

Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants

Take me back to San Francisco!

I'm excited to move back. Of the list, I've been to a third of the restaurants (33). I'm a little sheepish about how much eating out I do, but I did live in the Bay Area for 9 years...

(By the way, can you believe that Michael Bauer writes that he's eaten at all the listed restaurants in the last year? It seems sort of impossible. He eats at all the restaurants he reviews each week multiple times as well. This is a lot of restaurant eating... It's probably less fun than it initially sounds, and this is coming from a total foodie.)

Overview Of America 2050

Overview Of America 2050: "America is growing. By 2050, the U.S. population will grow to 430 million, a 40 percent increase over current levels. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, this growth will be concentrated in 8-10 emerging 'mega-regions' -- large, connected networks of metropolitan areas -- in which 70 percent of nation's population growth and 80 percent of its employment growth is expected to occur."

This is a project of the Regional Plan Association in NY, and it's pretty interesting. Check out the maps of our future mega-regions.

Before the Mortgage

Before the Mortgage

My friends Christina and Rachel have a book they've edited coming out tomorrow! It's based on their zine which I've always found incredibly entertaining. While I was invited to submit writing for the book, I failed to complete my treatise on step aerobics and community building. Regardless, I think the book (or at minimum their website) is worth checking out!

Also, there are readings in various cities if you're interested. I'm aiming to be at the one in NY on 5/16 (we'll see if I'm drowning in finals that week...)

The Hazzard's music video 'Gay Boyfriend'

The Hazzard's music video 'Gay Boyfriend': "The Hazzard's 'Gay Boyfriend' video has been downloaded from this website over 2 million times. Wow. It began in late 2002 with simple ambitions. But somwhere between the band's zeitgeist-catching lyrics, and my fanatical design and visual effects work, we raised this two thousand dollar video into something sublime. The behind-the-scenes page is a must-see for anyone interested in digital production."

Good for a light laugh. Quicktime's getting a workout lately.

snow showers

It's about 32 degrees outside, and there is freezing rain/snow showers everywhere. It's windy and cold and sort of wet -- it was wetter when I went to class this morning at 8:50am.

I came home after a long 90 minutes on debt-asset ratios and beta coefficients, and I'm now listening to Jose Gonzalez on the web, which is oddly fitting, particularly since he also seems to fit the previously mentioned the footage of 250000 bouncing colorful rubber balls in SF.

It would be nice just to go back to bed, but I'm going to try and motivate for aerobics class in a little bit. It's hard to do anything in the snow, but at least I know that I have some onion soup in the fridge that I can make after class. And beets.
